At Imported Jacks, we are proud to offer stud services for both Irish Jack Russell Terriers and Irish Black & Tan Hunt Terriers. Our program is rooted in decades of dedication to breed preservation, health, temperament, and lineage integrity. Whether you’re looking to continue a line of working dogs or raise well-rounded, family-friendly companions, our studs represent the best in the breed.
When Jack Russells were first bred, their coats were often solid black, brown, or tan. The piebald (white-spotted) coloring emerged unexpectedly but quickly gained favor among hunters due to the visibility of white dogs in the field. Over time, breeders selectively bred for this trait, and the piebald pattern became standard. It took years to breed out the solid coloring.
At Imported Jacks, we honor this history while embracing variety. Since our breeding program isn’t focused on hunting, we’ve reintroduced the original black and tan coloration through a carefully developed line of Hunt Terriers—also known in Europe as Irish Black & Tans.
Our studs are available to approved females who meet our health and temperament standards. We welcome inquiries from breeders seeking to enhance their lines with strong genetics, excellent temperament, and conformation.
The Irish Black & Tan, or Hunt Terrier, is nearly identical in temperament, size, and structure to the traditional Irish Jack Russell Terrier. The only distinction is coat color. Rare in the United States, these stunning black and tan dogs are common throughout Europe and make exceptional farm dogs and family pets.
In 2008, we imported our first Irish Black & Tan, Daegan, from Country Crest Farm in Costelloe, Ireland. Since then, our program has grown to include top-quality Black & Tan sires that represent everything we love about the Jack Russell breed—with a bold new look.
